Formerly known as Spatial Data Logic, Portus specializes in municipal government software solutions. The goal was to develop a new name and visual identity that better embodies the brand's mission: to foster stronger communities by enhancing communication between governments and constituents.
LOGO DESIGN: The Portal Brackets
The portal brackets that form the “O” in “PORTUS” are symbolic to the brand in a multi-faceted way. Firstly, they represent the brackets used in many computer programming languages, graphically connecting the logo to Portus’ software-based product offering. Secondly, with the brackets facing inwards they form the hexagon shape of the ancient Roman port, from the Portus name derives.
MESSAGE IN A LOGO: "Port Us" to a better future
By segementing the logo, two key words emerge — “port” and “us”. The combination of these words symbolizes the company as a gateway to improved governmental operations and services. “US” can also be interpretted as the acronym for United States, a meaningful choice that embeds the national origin of the company within its name.
